The region
Studio Felt and Fibers is along a hillside on the edge of the village of Saint Meard de Dronne, overlooking the village en surrounding countryside.
At 7 km you find the markettown Riberac, which is well known for its regional Fridaymorning market where you can find all specialities of the Dordogne. A market worth visiting! Here you will also find the typical French cafés where you can have a café au lait with a croissant on the terrace under the Platanoids. In this area there are regular flee – and antique markets in the summer.
At short distance, even walking distance, you can cool down and take a jump in the river. On this river Dronne, you can swim as well as canoe. There is ample oppertunity to take a nice walk in the countryside along the sunflowerfields. For Ecoprinters there will be enough interesting flowers and leaves to find.
Also culturally this part of France has a lot to offer. Historical villages, listed buildings with interesting history, caves, museums and churches with interior murals. On every square kilometer you will find a castle, some in private possesion, some open to the public. Little art galleries, craft studio’s and delicatessens will gladly open their doors for your visite.
On your 2 days off during the course, you can benefit from those activities offered and get familiar with the area.
Naturally you are at liberty to continue experimenting, because the studio is accessible at all time.
